Who: Adults and Current 5th – 12th graders (5th & 6th graders must have a parent(s) with them on the trip to attend).
When: July 9-13
**Ortega Youth will be participating on the same mission trip this summer. However, their dates are July 9-15th and the cost is not the same.
Where: Southeast Louisiana (Houma and surrounding area)
What: After enduring multiple hurricanes in 2020, Hurricane Ida made landfall in Southeast Louisiana on August 29, 2021, devastating homes and causing cities to be deemed “inhabitable” after the storm. Recovery has been a long process with cleaning up debris, removing trees, mucking out flooded homes and repairing damage. Our group will work alongside Praying Pelican Mission and the local church to aid in the recovery efforts.
Cost: The cost will vary depending on Adult or Child/Youth trip status. More info can be found at our informational meeting March 6 at 10:30am and at the registration link below.
Arrival/Departure: We will be leaving Jacksonville on Saturday, July 9 at 8:00AM. Students should arrive at 7:30AM. Ortega Youth will return to Jacksonville on Friday, July 15 at 7:30PM.
Forms: Once you have registered with OUMC, Kirby will be sending you an invitation through Praying Pelicans online portal. You will follow directions to create an account and fill out all forms online. Forms must be filled out one month prior to the trip.
