Ortega Church has served the Ortega community and beyond for over 100 years. Our prayer and work is to be a relevant expression of Christ’s Church today. Years ago, Ortega was an island unto itself. Now it is a peninsula with many bridges that connect us to our neighborhood, our community and our city. This reality is a wonderful illustration for the ministry of Christ’s Church – building bridges to connect our love for God and serve the community we seek to influence for Christ.

Our mission statement reinforces this vision for ministry – Connect to Community, Grow in Christ, Serve the World.

To live into our mission, we celebrate with vibrant worship every Sunday and hope you will join us. We design and deliver spiritual growth opportunities for children, youth and adults, with a special focus for family ministries. We are a generational church. We are a neighborhood church.

The Book of Psalms in our Bible, chapter 90, celebrates, “Lord God, through all the generations you have been our home!” We invite you and your family to find a home here at Ortega Church. Our Connect, Grow, Serve mission leads us on a journey to know God, to know God more, and to make God known. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, reaching out in care and service to others in need, here in our community that surrounds us, and to the world.

We hope you will continue to explore our website and to find your path on a journey to connect to God and our worship community; to grow in your understanding of the gift of God’s grace to us in Jesus Christ; and to follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit of God as we seek to serve God and the people of God at Ortega Church.

Sacred Stories in Stained Glass

Ortega Church has recently undertaken a process to restore and secure our Sanctuary stained-glass windows. The church has engaged St. Joseph Ministries – Architectural Stained Glass (SSJ) as our ministry partner.

Following a close inspection of both the interior and exterior of the stained-glass windows,SSJ and Ortega Church Trustees determined steps necessary to preserve the life and enhance the beauty and value of these irreplaceable windows. SSJ will remove, restore the support system, and reinstall the windows, as well as replace all protective glazing.

The Sanctuary stained-glass windows were gifted to the church in the early 1970s by generous congregants. The handmade glass is produced in Murano, Italy and each window was masterfully crafted by world-renown glass artist Senor Anzolo Fuga of Venice, Italy.

A full history of the Sanctuary stained-glass windows can be found HERE.
